RACER stands for Rapid Access to Collections by Electronic Requesting. The system allows library card holders from Ontario university libraries to search across multiple catalogues and place an interlibrary loan (ILL) request. RACER also helps interlibrary loan staff manage loan and borrowing requests by automating ordering procedures and communication with users.
RACER is a service of Scholars Portal, funded by the Ontario Council of University Libraries.
RACER has been running for more than 20 years, but in mid-2024, the software RACER is built on will reach its end of life. OCUL is committed to supporting coordinated resource sharing, however, Scholars Portal will sunset RACER in spring 2024 due to this software discontinuance.
Your library continues to support interlibrary loans! If your library has already started phasing out RACER, you can submit your requests via Omni or LibrarySearch (UofT only). See the Local RACER Support page for contact details.
